Cranleigh Hospital League of Friends secured third prize for the best decorated tree in the adults’ category of the Christmas Tree Festival at St Nicholas Church.
Volunteers adopted a medical theme for the tree with decorations including baubles made from old syringes and blood sample tubes, tinsel fashioned from feeding lines, cotton-wool snowflakes, skeletal gingerbread figures and even a toy nurse who doubled up as the fairy on the top of the tree!
Trustee Steve Shutts says: “We were delighted to be involved in this community event which attracted around 1,500 people. I hope visitors left knowing a little bit more about the Friends and their mission to I’d like to give my personal thanks to everybody who voted for our tree. Now that the festival has ended, the tree has been moved to the reception area at Cranleigh Village Hospital for visitors and staff to enjoy.”
