AGM looks to the future
The Friends of Cranleigh Village Hospital’s 2024 AGM marked the start of a new chapter for the 75-year-old charity.
Acting Chairman Dr Mike Bundy was officially elected to the role which he took over from Dr Jon Verdon. After 16 years of volunteering, Honorary Secretary Sue Camp handed over the reins to Peter Hewes. In a sincere and heartfelt speech, president of the League of Friends, Dianne Davies paid tribute to Sue’s long service and described her as having been responsible for much of what is good about the charity.
Earlier in the meeting, guests heard an informative talk from Dr Andrew Carne, Director of Clinical Information and Radiologist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. He spoke about the various types of scanners which are currently available and the ambition to secure a bone density scanner that can be accessed by local people.
Speaking after the meeting, Dr Mike Bundy said: “Thank you to everybody who came along to our AGM and to Dr Andrew Carne for his very insightful talk.
“I would like to give my personal thanks to Sue and Jon for all that they have done over the years to help fulfil our mission to keep healthcare local. I also want to express my thanks to Dr Matthew Clark, Steve Shutts, Brian Cheesman, Julie Francis and Peter Hewes for offering themselves for re-election. We have ambitious plans for the future, so I am grateful for the support of such a strong board of trustees.”
